Soor — Privacy Policy

The short version

Soor does not collect your personal information. There is no account, no sign-up, and no email address. Your progress lives on your device. The microphone is used to hear your instrument while you are in a lesson, and what it hears is never recorded, stored or transmitted.

What Soor stores, and where

Everything below is written to your own device only, and is deleted when you uninstall the app or tap Reset all progress in Profile:

• Which lessons you have completed, and where you stopped in one you have not
• Your day streak and total practice minutes
• Your best one-minute-change scores
• Your chosen instrument and appearance setting
• Whether the microphone heard your instrument during a session — a count, not a recording

None of this is sent to us, because there is nothing to send it to.

The microphone

Soor asks for microphone access so it can tune your guitar, tell whether you played the right note, and hear when you strum.

• Audio is analysed on your device, in real time, to work out pitch and when a note started.
• Audio is never recorded, saved, or transmitted anywhere. Nothing leaves the device — not to us, not to any third party.
• The app only listens during the parts of a lesson that need it, and hands the microphone back immediately afterwards.
• You can refuse. Every step that listens can also be completed by tapping. Declining the microphone costs you the tuner and automatic note checking; the whole course still works.

Analytics

Soor is instrumented to understand whether the teaching method works — for example, how many people finish the first module, and what share of sessions involved actually playing the instrument.

These events describe use of the app, not you. They carry lesson identifiers, durations and counts. They do not carry your name, email, contacts, location, or any device advertising identifier, and there is no profile built about you.

In this version, none of it leaves your phone. The events are held in memory on your own device and are discarded when you close the app. There is no analytics company involved, and nothing is uploaded anywhere. If that ever changes, this policy will name the company and its own policy before the change ships.

What Soor does not do

• No advertising, and no advertising identifiers
• No selling or sharing of data with anyone
• No tracking across other apps or websites
• No location, contacts, photos, or files
• No account, and no cloud copy of your progress

Children

Soor is not directed at children under 13, and is listed on the app stores for ages 13 and over. It collects no personal information from anyone. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13, because we do not collect personal data from anybody at all.

Your choices

• Microphone: grant or revoke it any time in your device settings.
• Your data: tap Reset all progress in Profile, or uninstall the app. Either removes everything.

Music and rights

The pieces in Soor are either public domain or written for the app. The reference audio is ours. We do not upload, analyse or store any music you play.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date above changes and the new version appears here before the change takes effect.
